Be relentlessly equanimous

A key enabler of being relentlessly resourceful

Paul Graham, YC founder and startup legend, has long said that being a good startup founder means being relentlessly resourceful. The same applies to strong product folks.

It’s easy to read PG’s as saying “they keep pushing hard, no matter what.” That’s often true, but consider another lens on resourcefulness: equanimity.

This does not mean being passive. Here’s the definition:

Mental calm and composure, especially amidst difficulty? I can’t think of anything more likely to enable the creativity and resourcefulness needed to solve hard, creative, valuable problems.
